Your Service: Adding more oooommmph. Servers, new search and stuff.

Over the last weekend, we completed a round of system and server upgrades to give the platform more power, more speed, and more room for growth. Most of the work took place behind the scenes with minimal disruption (we hope!). The aim was straightforward. Improve performance, prepare for new capabilities, and update several areas of the system that were due for routine maintenance.

Monitoring over recent months showed a steady increase in background activity as datasets expanded. Dashboards were opening slightly slower. Results were taking a little longer to display. Nothing was under strain, but it was the right point to update infrastructure, optimise data handling, and carry out the next scheduled round of improvements.

A major driver was the introduction of our new search capability. Search requires fast indexing, efficient storage structures, and consistent access performance. To support this properly, the system needed additional processing capacity and a cleaner internal organization. Completing the work over the weekend allowed us to make these changes without interrupting normal use.

We also used the opportunity to enhance several operational areas. Datasets were migrated into a more efficient structure. Backup routines were reviewed and streamlined. Internal service communication was tightened to reduce overhead. Caching rules were refined to avoid repeated work where it was not needed. These changes improve overall responsiveness and make processes more consistent under different load levels.

The benefits should now be visible; dashboards load faster and results appear more quickly. The platform is also now better prepared for the upcoming reporting updates and more automated insight features that will be introduced in stages.

This upgrade is part of ongoing maintenance work that keeps the platform reliable, efficient, and ready for growth. Regular updates like this ensure that new capabilities can be added without compromise and that performance remains consistent as data volumes increase.
